OFT conducting ‘web-sweep’ of Online Stores - T’s and C’s

The OFT (Office of Fair Trading) has been conducting wide-spread checks on online stores over the run-up to Christmas, looking for sites that contravene the DSR’s (Distance Selling Regulations).
Although the exercise initially focused on the top 600 online stores, this is sure to continue through 2008, with the OFT starting to focus more and more on the Online retail sector.
The government has published guidelines for e-Tailers to assist in becoming compliant. It is certainly in the interests of e-Tailer’s to meet the regulations, as non-compliance can mean that your customers can take advantage of your T’s and C’s - as well as the potential to be taken offline by the DTI.
