Why People Buy Online

Price is not a deciding factor when choosing where to shop online, according to a survey by solutions provider Conchango. The majority of shoppers (53%) stated that price isn’t important.

Only 17% (of the 1,000 online shoppers surveyed), use price comparison sites such a Kelkoo and Pricerunner and a mere 3% of people are enticed by freebies and discount offers, according to Conchango. However, despite having a frivolous attitude with money shoppers still want to know that if they’re not happy with their purchase they can return it for a full refund. 56% of consumers are more inclined to buy from sites that have clear money-back guarantees.

89% of online shoppers surveyed cited simple navigation and secure payment options as reasons for choosing where to spend their cash. Ease-of-use is crucial since one in twelve people give up on buying something online because of having to go through too many clicks.

“On the high street few consumers are enticed to buy from cheap-looking stores so why would they be attracted to ugly shops online?” said Mike Altendorf, CEO of Conchango. “Despite the internet being the easiest way to shop around for bargains consumers are still more inclined to shop on sites that give them an enjoyable experience.”
