Dreamteam Design - E-commerce Event
An e-commerce event called “Everything You Need to Know About Selling Online”was held for local traders at the Mint Leaf Cafe, Meeting House Lane on Tuesday 6 June at 6 pm. The event was attended by MP David Lepper who has recently been championing the Sustainable Communities Bill to help secure the future of local business.
Malcolm Duffitt, MD of Dreamteam Design Ltd, delivered the main content of the evening and outlined every aspect of e-commerce from the different software available to taking payments online. He was later joined by Malcolm Prescott of Pure Potions, a Sussex-based online retailer who shared his real-world experiences of e-commerce.
Whilst Margaret Hodge, Minister of State for Industry and the Regions, Department of Trade and Industry, could not attend the event, she sent an interesting letter of support, which included some eye-opening statistics on the use of e-commerce.
For example, Internet sales have gone up by 1500% since April 2000 compared to an increase in total UK retail sales of just 20% according to research recently published by Interactive Media in Retail Group. And 99.8% of the population have access to broadband, which indicates a further potential for growth.
Dreamteam design felt that the evening was successful in raising awareness of local traders in that e-commerce is not only accessible but can significantly expand their business opportunities. The next step is to engage with regional government support agencies to help fund e-commerce initiatives for the smaller retailers.
